What's the first thing that goes through your mind when someone says the word "data"?

Well for me, the first image is line graphs, pie charts and spreadsheets with columns and rows full of numbers that leave you bleary-eyed and a bit dazed.

But what if someone were to say data can also mean what you post on Facebook and Twitter, the ratings you gave a restaurant, the photos you uploaded to Flickr or even, perhaps, what you feel.


An emerging set of tools is making it easier than ever to track and compile all sorts of "data" and display it in a way that's relatively easy to understand.

You can now point your mobile phone at a street and instantly get ratings for restaurants.


There are several reasons why we're seeing more data visualization in popular culture and why it's becoming simpler and more innovative, experts say.

Should kids under 13 use Facebook?

Status updates, photo tagging and FarmVille aren't just for adults or even teenagers anymore.

Researchers say a growing number of children are flouting age requirements on sites such as Facebook and MySpace, or using social-networking sites designed just for them.

Facebook and MySpace require users to be at least 13.

Some scientists worry that pre-adolescent use of the sites, which some therapists have linked to Internet addiction among adults, could be damaging to children's relationships and brains.

But many other experts say there's not any solid research to back that up and that most children seem to use social-media sites in moderation, and in positive way.

Rumor of aliens landing in Aurora, Texas, has lived 112 years

With alien themes coming back to television, people of a tiny Texas town said the
legend of their own alien encounter more than 100 years ago.

Just north of Fort Worth, Aurora has a population of 376.

"It's just a legend," said Barbara Brammer, Aurora Historian.

But people maintain that there are aliens that can live that long in deep space travel. When we can't physically handle a few month trip to mars because of the strain it would put on our bodies.
One case in south america has an alien opening a wormhole into our space and left an off the charts radiactive reading that was only concentrated at the opening.

Why would anyone be so arrogant to believe that we are the only intelligent life in the universe?

Good reasons to eat chocolate

Who doesn't like chocolate ?

There’s a good reason we crave chocolate when we’re down. Its tryptophan ups mood-lifting serotonin in the brain, says Leah Sherman, a naturopathic physician in Portland, Oregon. One study found that even the taste, texture, and smell make us happy. :)
Also a study in the Journal of Nutrition found that people who ate dark chocolate had less of a protein that indicates inflammation, which can lead to a heart attack.

So eat chocolate with moderation!

Pakistan's military claims Taliban stronghold

I read an article about how Pakistan's military force took over a Taliban stronghold during the ongoing ground offensive in the tribal region of South Waziristan on Tusday.

Pakistani security forces have secured Sararogha and have started to clear the town of weapons , the military said.

According to the military, 21 militants and one Pakistani soldier died in the past 24 hours of fighting most of them in the raid on Sararogha.

The restive and largely ungoverned region of South Waziristan is the headquarters of the Pakistani Taliban.

Pakistan's military suspects its leader, Hakimullah Mehsud, is still in the region backed by up to 8,000 militant fighters.

Pakistan's army has launched three similar offensives in Kaniguram and Sararogha since 2004 without success, sometimes agreeing to peace deals that eventually fall apart.

General Athar Abbas recently told CNN that this time a peace deal is not an option.

"Certainly there is no scope of a peace deal," Abbas told CNN.

Why did Mexico signed a treaty with the Eu?

Mexico have the first place in Latin America refering to exports. :)

I have 3 reasons
First: Open economies receive many more benefits than closed economies because they are open to the free mrket. So this treaty will result in economic, social and even cultural benefits.

Second: Diversity is essential because is important to export to other coutries since the 80 % of Mexican exports are going to the US. So increasing the commerece with Europe is necessary to fortify and amplify the goals of the Mexican economy.

Third: To promote cultural and social opportunities. This treaty with Europe could increase the cultural interchange and also could provide intercultural skills fo Mexcian students.

Can you tell the difference between a Chinese, Japanese and Korean when you see one?

We alway say all asian people look the same and really wanted to know what were their differences and so a search and this is what i found:

Japanese: tend to have longer/ oval facial structure with larger eyes and more pronounced noses.

Chinese : tend to have rounder faces than both Korean and Japanese people. China is a multi-ethnic country making it harder to differentiate.

Korean : tend to have flatter faces with higher / squarer cheek bones and smaller eyes with single eyelids.

Can you guess who is japanese, chinese and korean now? The frist women is Korean, the second chinese and the third japanese:)

Muslim Women

In Islam, there is no such concept of free will, especially to women. They are treated as object by men, becuase there men have more power than women.
