Debate against Golden report

The United Nations General Assembly is debating a UN-sponsored report which says Israel committed war crimes during its military assault on the Gaza Strip.
The Goldstone report, which accuses both Israel and Hamas of war crimes, has already been endorsed by the UN Human Rights Council, which sponsored the fact-finding commission.

Most of the report's criticism was directed towards Israel's conduct during the Gaza offensive

According to some research, hurricanes in the North Atlantic are stronger and larger than ever before. Scientists now say they know global warming is to blame.

Winds topping over 75 miles per hour, rain slamming down, waves crashing into the coast ... Some climate scientists believe hurricanes in the North Atlantic look more dangerous than ever.

Obama humilliated by Netanyahu

The Obama administration must create a fresh plan to restart Arab-Israeli peace talks after losing face on its demands for a full Jewish settlement freeze.

President Barack Obama's team has disappointed many Palestinians and other Arabs.

Palestinians argued that if the United States was not prepared to back up what it said on settlements, why would it be prepared to back up what it might say on borders? The Arab-Israeli conflict is a central threat to US national security interests.

Well with this it change my mind, i have aways thought thah Obama couldnt let anyone down because of his great way of succeeding but with this i think i was not that certain.

Russia aids epidemia out of control

Russia is doing much to prevent the spread of aids.among an estimated two million drug users. It is believed there are now at least a million people infected with HIV in Russia. The vast majority are people under the age of 30. Most were infected because they share needles for injecting heroin. But they are having to stop their funding because Russia is now considered to be a middle-income country and does not want to receive financial aid from abroad.

Russia's HIV epidemic has entered a new phase. Test centres report an increasing number of new infections, contracted through sexual contact. The treatment is expensive and i dont think the government can mantain it that much.

Russia is going to learn from the situation. Like I mentiones before, I dont think no positive efforts are being made in terms of public awareness. The government does not take an active role in fighting the situation, Russia will face a big epidemia. Maybe this catastrophe will be a lesson to many people around the world or at least for us to take actions.

Angela Merkel wants to fight for a good tomorrow

Angela Merkel, during the anniversary of the demolition of Berlin Wall, gaved a speech about dealing with global warming. She talked about "tear down the walls of today." She mentioned how incorrect was a nuclear bomb in the hands of Iran, and how because of global warming icebergs are melting in the Arctic, African people forced to leave their homelands because of drought and the rise in global sea levels. This is in what Angela Merkel put special emphasis on, on the need for a global agreement on climate change.

I really like her way of trying to change people. I once learned that for people to change they have to live first a great catastrophe. That is what is happening with our planet now a days, with plants, animals, natural resources, etc. It is a shame we have to wait until we don't have nothing, to start acting. Angela Merkel will gave some speeches for people to start doing good things for the planet. I like what she said and I will quote her:

"Today's generation needs to prove that it is able to meet the challenges of the 21st century, and that, in a sense, we are able to tear down walls of today. We have to do everything to prevent such a crisis in the future."

As leader of Europe's largest economy, Angela Merkel wants to keep working with the United States and other Group of 20 major economies to take coordinated steps to prevent a global financial meltdown like the recent one.

Georgia's and Russia's conflict

Georgia began the war of 2008 with Russia, Georgia was defeated, since then it separated in 2 regions: Abkhazia and South Ossetia Since then, both regions were sharing the responsibility of the conflict. The European Union had asked for a few reports. They were Georgia's armed forces who initiated the conflict with shots of artillery to achieve the control of Ossetia. The Gregorian president present the offensive as a legitimate defense.

A British girl died by being vaccinated against cancer

Authorities are investigating why a 14 year old girl died hours later of received a vaccine to prevent cervical cancer.
The authorities started offering teenage girls a vaccine to prevent cancer, or what we call papiloma humano. This vaccine caused people to start thinking girls will became sexually active. But health centers wanted to provide this vaccine for girls to be healthy.

New cases of swine flu in Europe

The Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) confirmed new flu cases in Europe. This is happening in Spain, United Kingdom and Germany. The thing is the cases are growing more each time. In united kingdom the rate know is 15 cases.

The principal of the OMS, Michael Ryan, says that the situation is causing trouble, so we have to be prepared, because of the rapid increases of flu.

Micheal Ryan revealed that they have been distributed 2.4 million of treatmeand against this virus. Some countries start receiving a treatment called Tamiflu, its efficent to control this disease.

Ireland will vote again in favor of the Lisboa's European Treaty

Last year, ireland's rejected the treaty of the European Union, whose purpose was to make things better. With the effects of the crisis, they change their minds.
They are obligated to convocate a referendum about the treaty and it has to be approved by the 27 members of the Eu so it can be applied.

On the news, they also mentioned it wasnt the first time Ireland do a referendum. They once rejected Niza's Treaty and a year later aproved.

The prime minister, Brian Cowen, stated that "The succes of the referendum is what will make the decision for the recuperation of this treaty, which is excellent for jobs."

Eu and Mexico's global agreement

The European Union negociate an agreement with México, the principal threaties here were: politic dialogue, cooperation and commerce. As I read I found it is important the relation they maintain because México has taken the European Union to gain success and great things.
They have a common values, opinions and visions of the world wide's necesities. So they intend to help with globalization.
There are many points in which México and the European Union are focusing on. The four are: politic, security, environmental and socioeconomic aspects.

The relation between these two has been efficent. They did great advances that conduct them to good level relations.

Some information about Abdullah’s family succession :)

I found interesting in class when the teacher told us that this family had been in the throne for years, so i took the liberty to investigate a little about this and now I will passed to you.

The al-Saud family has ruled what is now Saudi Arabia since the 1920s, when Abdul Aziz overpowered rivals from other tribes and unified the country. The root of the succession problem lies in the fact that Abdul Aziz fathered some 45 sons, of whom 23 are still alive, and did not specify how his successors were to be chosen. Until now it has been an informal process among the princes; it is not based on birth order, but upon negotiation and compromise within the family

There were alot of sons. They have been years since the family rules.

Interesting points about Cold War

Like you know Cold War was not a real fight. It was just tension between the Countries.
The thing is, that nineteen years after the Cuban missile crisis nearly sparked a nuclear war, Fidel Castro asked the Soviet Union to redeploy atomic weapons to his island... says a new book based on reports by Moscow's KGB intelligence agency.

''Castro made the extraordinary proposal that, if the deployment went ahead, Moscow should seriously reconsider reestablishing the nuclear missile bases in Cuba dismantled after the missile crisis 19 years earlier,'' it says.

Well it is clear that Cold War ended years behind, but Castro should be trying to improve atomic weapons, ok yes, it is secure for his country but is also stimluating war within other countries.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen held the first in a series of monthly press conferences with members of the media at the Alliance’s Headquarters in Brussels. He said he wanted three issues to be raised. Afghanistan in particular, the Strategic Assessment and the elections. Three points about elections.

First: the security aspects of the elections went well, 95% of the 6500 polling stations opened as planned. Only 2% were attacked. That is a real success, which goes first to the Afghan Security Forces.

Second: it is too early to make final judgments on fraud or turnout, considering that the final, certified results will only be confirmed in two weeks or so. There is a process, and structures in place, to investigate and make judgments on accusations of fraud. Let them do their work. And all parties must behave responsibly, during this fluid period.

Third: we need to keep this election in perspective. Whatever happens – and I hope the final results will be credible – we must remember that we don’t have 60,000 troops in Afghanistan simply for elections. We are there to prevent Afghanistan from again becoming a safe haven for international terrorism. Credible elections are part of that, but we shouldn’t forget that we’ve successfully kept Afghanistan from becoming safe haven for terrorism and we will continue to do so.

Like conclusion, we can see that elections are trying to be secure and honest. It is really important that the final results are completely fair and beneficial for everyone in Afghanistan.

WHAT’S HAPPENING BETWEEN RUSSIA AND GEORGIA SINCE 2008?

The 2008 South Ossetia War, also known as the Russia–Georgia War, was an armed conflict in August 2008, between Georgia on one side, and the Russian Federation together with Ossetians and Abkhazians on the other.

During the night of 7 to 8 August 2008, Georgia launched a large scale military attack against the self-proclaimed Republic of South Ossetia. The following day, Russia reacted by deploying combat troops in South Ossetia and launching bombing raids into uncontested Georgia.
A preliminary ceasefire was signed by Georgia and Russia on 15 August, 2008.

The Russian military has announced a ten-day withdrawal from advance positions, while Georgian authorities have expressed discontent with the rate and extent of the pull-back, and with the continuing Russian presence in port of Poti.The number of refugees from South Ossetia fleeing into Russia reached an estimated 30,000 of the 70,000 overall populations. Meanwhile by 18 August, about 68,000 ethnic Georgians had fled their homes due to the conflict.

So, we can see the tension between this 2 countries. Because of Georgia starting the disruption here, Russia reacted back and the fight started :)
