Pakistan Ban WFP condemns attack on Islamabad

The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned today's attack against an office of the World Food Program (WFP) in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital, that left five workers dead. At a press conference in Geneva, Ban said that the act is a tragedy for the UN and the entire humanitarian community in Pakistan. "It's a terrible crime against those who work tirelessly to help the poor and vulnerable in that country," he said. After expressing his condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the fallen, Ban said the UN would continue its humanitarian assistance to the people of Pakistan, where WFP provides food aid to 10 million people.
