- We all know that YouTube is one of the most visited sites globally, along with Google, Yahoo
and yes... Facebook. But what is the story behind YouTube?
This site was developed by three regular guys that were working for Paypal. The site was activated in 2005, on February the 15th; it was in development until May of that same year, when its creators offered the public a preview of the site, and six months later, Youtube made its official debut. It was not long before investors placed their eyes in this site. In November 2005 Sequoia Capital placed its hope on YouTube and invested 3.5 million dollars, and in April 2006 watching the success of the site, they invested another 8 million green.
In just months the site had already become one of the most popular,
visited sites in the US following the trail of MySpace. By October 9 2006, it was time for the king of kings to lay its eyes on YouTube; they announced the site was to be purchased for 1.65 billion USD in stock, by Google. In November 13 that very same year, after some rough negotiations, Google officially made its second largest acquisition.
Chad Hurley, Steve Chen & Jawed Karim, developers of YouTube are today, millionaire former Paypal Employees.

- Nowadays, as one of the most famous sites in the world, YouTube has become an indispensible website and its been talked it could officially become an ally in today's education. Deals are being made to create a new "section" in YouTube to be used in schools in order to encourage learning through interaction. If this happens a
new era will arrive for YouTube, and worldwide education.




Today, there is another site who has been fighting its way up the food chain, and today it has already reached a high ground in top visited sites. Yes... we are talking about Facebook.
