Who says yes, who says no?

In recent news it is said that the Lisbon Treaty could finally be launched, after 8 years of hard work to make the EU "more democratic, more transparent and more efficient".

Lisbon Treaty Status:
  • Approved by parliament: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, UK
  • Defeated by referendum: Irish Republic
  • Challenges: Czech and Polish presidents yet to sign treaty
Reason why they are opposing:
Opponents see it as part of a federalist agenda that threatens national sovereignty.
