After today's class I have been thinking about economic integration. Is it really better that way or is it just a shortcut for problems. I think it will be better if we could discuss this a little more. I know that in class we do not have enoguh time but we can use this cyber-space(blog) to create kind of a forum inside a post.

Economic integration = Utopia....?
What i have to say about economic integration is that maybe it has worked for some countries, but we can not be sure if it will make a better good for us(considering USA, Mexico & Canada). I think that as higher as we go in the economic integration pyramid we are trying to reach a Utopia.(Utopia is an ideal perfect state; especially in its social and political and moral aspects) This definition was found in the Princeton dictionary; are there any risks in reaching an Utopia. I personally think that an Utopia will at certain point make us lose our culture, but if handled correctly we could make an utopia that will create a perfect cultural melting pot.
I would like to hear different points of view so please COMMENT!

Actually, after having looked at teh strenght of the European Union during this crisis, all thanks to its Economic Integration, I really think that haing an Economic Integration such as a Canada-USA-Mexico one would be extremely beneficial to all these countries.
I don't really think we are trying to reach an Utopia, after all, humanity really likes challenges. Sure, we complain a lot about so many things, but I think all fun would be taken out of life if everything was perfect. Any, anyway, our ideas of perfection would keep on changing, so what we consider to be 'perfct' today, will probably be less-than-perfect in a hundred years.
As for a melting pot... well, you are talking about an Economic Utopia, right? Not a Political One if I understood correctly. Having an economic Utopia doesn't mean we will lose our culture, on the countrary, it should strenghten it given the fact that there will be enough money to stustain the inhabitants of any given country, thus enabling them to remain in their country and continue with their own traditions and beliefs, instead of having to emmigrate and eventually adopt other traditions and beliefs.
